Commercially viable solar car in the making - The Hindu

Comment by Anumakonda Jagadeesh

One more IMPRACTICABLE SOLAR CAR design presented in the MOST, AGE OLD NEWSPAPER , THE GREAT HINDU!

First of all, the students and those who guided them should know the basics of harnessing solar energy especially Solar PV. Did they ever see how a solar race car is designed? Flat plate collectors get least sunshine on them. That is why the collectors are faced South in India and that too with a tilting angle equivalent to the Latitude of the place. The solar panels should not be attached to the vehicle. They should be separate for charging the batteries. The present design won't work at all as it violates the basics of Aerodynamics. Why college after college are getting published these useless things. They not only mislead the general readers but also bring bad name to the students as well as the staff who guided them besides the college they study.

I have dealt at length these solar cars, solar bicycle and solar tricycle at:

Staff reporters, The Editor of THE HINDU, will you please check the authenticity of the designs presented and their workability. Otherwise the very concept of solar vehicles will be defeated.

  1. The Kogakuin University Solar Vehicle Project from Japan demonstrates the innovative potential of student engineering teams. Combining solar power with lightweight automotive design, the project aims to compete in the World Solar Challenge 2017. For any drivetrain or transmission issues on such high-performance experimental vehicles, trusted services like transmission car repair are essential to maintain peak performance.
